The Energy Co-op has welcomed several new team members in 2018. They bring diverse talents and experiences to the organization and will help us continue to serve our members while growing the only community-based energy supplier in the region. We wanted to take this opportunity to help you get to know them a little bit better:
Alexandra Kroger joined The Energy Co-op in April of 2018 as our new Energy Program Manager. She manages the organization’s renewable electricity and natural gas programs including program operations and business analysis. Originally from Brooklyn, New York, Alexandra first came to Philadelphia for college at the University of Pennsylvania where she studied political science and environmental studies. She has worked in a variety of clean energy and government roles in both Washington DC and New York but is now happy to call Philadelphia home once again. The city’s beautiful parks, historic and cultural attractions, exciting food scene, and most importantly, the laid-back yet friendly and energetic demeanor of Philadelphians themselves, has resonated more with Alexandra than any other place she’s ever lived. As an environmentalist who is believes in the potential of a clean energy economy, Alexandra is thrilled to be working in an organization that enables and promotes the use of renewable energy sources. In her spare time, Alexandra is a news junkie who also enjoys engaging in diverse volunteer activities, reading, and watching movies.
Morgan Pitts brings a lifelong passion for environmental sustainability and renewable energy to The Energy Co-op. He joined the organization in March of 2018 as the new Marketing and Communications Director. He oversees all marketing, public relations and membership initiatives for the organization. Morgan moved to Philadelphia from outside of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware early this year. In Rehoboth, he managed outreach and education programs for a small conservation nonprofit. He still makes it to the beach to visit every so often but is glad to now call Philadelphia home. Prior to moving to Rehoboth, he managed corporate communications, public affairs and community engagement for a major bioenergy producer headquartered in the Washington, D.C. area and has consulted on communications, public policy and stakeholder engagement for a variety of sustainability and clean-tech focused nonprofit, private and governmental organizations throughout his career. In his free time, you’ll find him either exploring the city and trying new food, volunteering for community organizations or getting out of the city and climbing mountains, kayaking or lounging on the beach.
Scott Whittemore is the newest addition to the Energy Co-op team. He is passionate about the economic and social aspects of clean energy, particularly surrounding wind energy, and the best practices to raise awareness, public opinion, and involvement. He joined the Co-op in July, 2018 as the new Member Services Associate. He recently graduated from Penn State University with a B.S. in Psychology and is responsible for maintaining and building the Co-op’s social media presence. He is also responsible for personally helping our members with any questions or concerns they may have and managing outreach events for the Co-op. He enjoys hiking and playing guitar whenever he gets a chance.
