Community and Business Leaders to Join Energy Co-op for Annual Member Meeting and Conference – Saturday, June 9 2018
Some of the region’s top leaders and community organizations will take part in this year’s annual meeting of The Energy Cooperative Association of Pennsylvania, known as The Energy Co-op. The Philadelphia-based Co-op is a nonprofit member-owned cooperative that provides renewable energy, renewable natural gas and transparently priced heating oil to thousands of homes and businesses in Pennsylvania.
This year’s event will be held at the Inn at Swarthmore, where town Mayor Tim Kearney will bring opening greetings. The Clean Air Council, Weaver’s Way, Ardent Credit Union, the Swarthmore Food Co-op and the Pennsylvania Energy Authority are also co-sponsors of the event
The morning will feature speakers on topics such as how electricity works, clean energy projects currently underway in the region and the cooperative economy. The member meeting will follow in the afternoon.
The nearly 40-year old organization, one of the first of its kind in the nation, places a strong emphasis on community engagement. “We are locals, helping locals determine better ways to get their energy needs met,” said Damali Rhett, Co-op executive director. “We are thrilled to have such substantial support from other organizations
